Showing Support: Sandaire’s chosen charities

2 mins read

Sandaire have proudly supported four preferred charities over the past year, all of which were voted for and chosen by staff. The four main charities chosen by staff were Emmaus UK, Snow Camp, Glass Door & Grief Encounter

Thank you to Sandaire. Your efforts will ensure that Emmaus can continue to offer a safe place to call home to people who are experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.

Emmaus UK

Given the current situation which has been incredibly challenging for charities, we have been giving thought internally as to what we can do to support these charities that are close to our hearts.

Please do pass on our thanks to everyone at Sandaire for their continued support, your donation will have a big impact on many young lives. This is a lovely and generous gesture. It means a great deal to us at this time.

Snow Camp

All money that has been raised so far over the past year through small fundraising initiatives such as the Get Together and National Ice Cream Day, Croissant Day, Cream Tea Day and a recent virtual staff quiz, as well as our charity e-card initiative in December last year, has been split equally between the four charities at this time instead of at the end of the year as planned.

Thank you for helping to provide safety and support in unprecedented times. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to Sandaire. Thanks to your kind contribution, many more people will have a route off the streets into a safer and more stable future. Your donation comes at a vital time when services in London are strained and many have closed. Your generosity means people can continue coming to Glass Door for advice, advocacy and emotional support during this public health crisis.

None of this could have been achieved without the support of Sandaire staff and over the course of the coming weeks we will continue to show support of our chosen charities by posting an article online on each of our chosen charities, as well as organising virtual ‘learning lunches’ to further promote the charities’ work and educate on ways of supporting them, outside of only financial donations, during this difficult time.

We are writing to Sandaire to say a huge thank you for the donation made to Grief Encounter, of which we are extremely grateful. We were not expecting this donation at all and it is so very kind and thoughtful of you to think of us at this time.

Late March, we had to temporarily stop all Face-to-Face bereavement support, but our team of counsellors remain in touch with all of the families who need us via skype and the telephone. Anxiety levels of our bereaved children are at this time heightened. Having already experienced the death of one parent, the fear of their remaining parent catching this deadly virus can be overwhelming. Our counsellors are working incredibly hard to accommodate each family to support them in the best way possible, in these
unprecedented times.

Grief Encounter

Thank you to all of our charities for their notes of thanks and for the incredible work that they are all continuing to do at a very important time, from grief and mental health awareness, through to supporting the homeless and the youth of today. We will share more stories of the incredible work that they are doing at this time in due course.
