Our history.

Sandaire’s journey began over a century ago with the pioneering approach and spirited personalities of the Provincial Insurance Company. A path that three generations later – following the sale of Provincial – led to the formation of a family office to meet the investment needs of the Scott family. As expertise widened, so did our offer, creating today’s multi-family office working with extraordinary families to manage their multigenerational wealth needs.

The Provincial Insurance Company is founded by Sir James Scott in Manchester.

Provincial moves from Bolton to its new Head Office, Sand Aire House in Kendal, Cumbria.

The Scott brothers invite distinguished economist John Maynard Keynes to provide investment advice. A year later he joins the Provincial Board.

Provincial had grown to employ 2,200 staff with a turnover in excess of £350m. Offices through the UK, plus Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Kenya.

Sandaire is founded by Alex Scott to manage the wealth of the family following the sale of Provincial.

James Fleming (L) joins Sandaire as Chief Executive and Warwick Newbury (R) as Chairman.

Sandaire builds on its investment office service, launching private equity and real estate businesses.

Andrew is responsible for operations, IT, HR and facilities and oversees both the day-to-day operating aspects of Sandaire as well as leading various projects to improve the operational capability and effectiveness.
