Aphorism No.10

If we’re not inherently religious, it might seem odd to point out that Christmas is built around a mystical story of a god being born as a human: frail and weak. But the idea is bigger than the dogma. Irrespective of religion, it’s a metaphor for our strangely mixed condition. We are both magnificent and frail: capable of the subtlest comprehensions and derailed by a stubbed toe.
